Silence between tides
Image copyright of author
night folds
into the curve of the bay
no one asked
for a soft-spoken sunset
thin Pōhutukawa shadows
red stamens long
remembering wind
outreaching tipuna tenderly
I collect small truths
like broken shells
feather weight echoes
of the shoreline i walk
somewhere in the sigh
of the starlight tide
a strong whisper
of a world waiting
sharpen my sentences
stand still
long enough
to hear it
ebb
